LOVE/SEXUAL HEALTH
Something about your romantic/sex life is not how you want it to be. Maybe you or your partner are frustrated because sex is painful, lasts too long or does not last long enough. It might be difficult to reach orgasm because of anxious thoughts or not feeling comfortable with your body. Maybe your sex life feels lacking because you just do not feel connected to your partner anymore and you just cannot figure out why. Maybe you are angry because your partner would seem to rather watch porn than be intimate with you or perhaps there was an infidelity your heart is still trying to work through.
You want to feel better about yourself and your partner. You want to help them or they want to help you overcome whatever the struggle is in the bedroom. You want communication, play, longing and forgiveness. You want to love intimacy on every level.
Some concerns that may benefit from sex therapy include: individuals and/or couples with gaps in desire, communication troubles, infidelity, orgasmic difficulties, pain or fear, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, consensual out-of-control sexual behaviors, survivors of childhood sexual abuse and adult sexual assault and alternative sexuality.
COMPLICATED GRIEF
Someone you love has died and it is the worst sadness you have ever felt. You feel like everyday without them is as painful as the day they left. You might be wondering how you will ever feel "the same" again or how life will ever be worth living without them. You cannot understand how other people seem to be doing so well after their loved one died and you feel so stuck. Everything feels so lonely.
You want to be able to smile again. You want to be able to spend time with your family and friends without feeling so sad. You want to rest your heavy heart and learn to be yourself without the person you lost.
Complicated grief can occur when some one we are very close to dies. Their death can happen suddenly or over a period of time with preparation and care. This can be a spouse, parent, sibling, child, other relative, friend or beloved pet.
TRAUMA
Something terrible has happened. It may have happened to you directly or you may have heard about it happening to someone you care about. It may have happened once or it may have happened over and over again. Ever since the terrible day you're nervous all the time, you cannot sleep or when you do you have terrible nightmares about the event, sometimes you may have "nightmares" about what happened while you are awake. You avoid places you used to have no problem going to and you do not trust people anymore. You might blame yourself for what happened. You might shame yourself for what happened.
You want to get back to your life before that terrible day. You want to go to places and be with people you used to enjoy without fear or restriction. You want to get a good night's sleep and breath easy when you are walking down the road, going to the store or driving in your car.
Some life events that may cause trauma resulting in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) include: serious vehicle accidents, violent personal assaults such as sexual assault, robbery or mugging, witnessing violent deaths, military combat, terrorist attacks, being held hostage, natural disasters, diagnosis of a fatal health condition, unexpected severe injury or death of a close family member or friend.
